After 32 years as a shareholder (and much of that time as an employee), I sold the last of my COP shares today. They had a few good runs, but more often than not, it seemed like my investment was always waiting for the debt hit on the stock price to close. COP for the last few years has been nothing more than a proxy on oil prices, and if one wants to bet on oil prices, it seems like XOM is a better proxy. But I made a bunch of money selling my Burlington stock to COP :-). Good luck to all who are in it for the long term. Wish you luck, but I need to put my money elsewhere.
Wish I had a suggestion for a better place to have your holdings than COP, but I don't. I have been and will continue to be a long term holder while investing future dividends. Considering dividends and the inflation hedge I contend ther is no better place to be. Best of luck to you. Differences of opinion is what makes "the world go around."
