Chevron bought Texaco; however, Phillips bought Conoco so it does not make sense to just name it Conoco.

There is a rumor that execs think the Conoco portion needs to go. They want something a little more sophisticated and in line with their goals for the future. The Phillips portion will probably remain, however.
