Question for the Global Warming Skeptics

    Help me understand the logic.
    1. Do you accept the findings that the global temps have increased over 1 degree F over the last 80 years?
    If no, why not?
    If yes, go to 2.
    2. Do you accept the findings that the increased global temps are most likely caused by CO2 emissions?
    If no, why not?
    If yes, go to 3.
    3. Do you accept the consensus that the global temps will continue to rise as CO2 emissions increase?
    If no, why not?
    If yes, go to 4.
    4. Do you believe action should be taken to address this increase? If so, what?

You can make it a drinking game with shots, or strip global warming questions, if you need that to motivate you fellas - I'm just really curious as to why!!

    • A game of "strip global warming questions" sounds very motivating to me. Post your picture and maybe we can arrange one. We'd have to get player consensus on a fact source and with 27 "thumbs down" votes on your post it looks like we deniers will carry that vote. With that in mind you might want to wear a lot of clothing to the game. It's pretty chilly these days and getting naked ten minutes into the game won't be comfortable for you (but won't bother us at all). lol

    • There are more factors than CO2. You seem pretty presumptuous to know only what god, if there is one, knows for sure. There is also the inconvenient fact that many of the scientists that promoted global warming are now coming out of the closet and saying they are not so sure anymore and that their data is incorrect. But scientists are often wrong. If you didn't play drinking games so much you would know that.

      • This issue is identical to the cigarettes-cause-cancer deniers in the 1970s and 1980s. They were paid by big tobacco. Today's deniers are paid by big coal and oil. Except they already lost the debate. The news has not trickled down to the lowest IQ levels yet. Which is why I gave you the news. You get a F tho for being stupid.

Wise up and maybe you won't embarrass yourself again.

This matter is closed, as far as I'm concerned.

      • Actually, scientific consensus has tightened. There's less and less doubt about the data. Figuring out the exact consequences is hard, because the global climate is such a complex system. Nonetheless, absent offsetting factors, increasing the carbon-dioxide concentration in the atmosphere has to raise the average global temperature. That's just the physics of it all. Over geologic time periods, global temperature tracks CO2 concentration very closely, and it has long been known that if not for the greenhouse effect Earth would be a snowball. Would be best not to go zinging off too far in the other direction, though.

I believe cigarettes are causing global warming. Oh and the spitting of chewing "tabakee". How's that for a hypothesis? Prove me wrong. LOL

    • Yes there is a warming (at times) and a cooling (at times) that man and animal and plants and machinery and GOD have an effect on. It rises and falls like the tides of the ocean. If I clean up my yard of weeds and my neighbors do not and their pollen infects my yard, I go out and respray to remove the weeds again and it goes around and around and around. Politicians are pushing their agenda to INCREASE the pockets full of cash and power over all mankind - so what else is new.

I'm just really curious as to why!! Through environmental/climate study of the past, there have been acute periods of climate change (ice age and return from ice age) with human populations so low as to have negligible impact on these drastic; changes. Furthermore, many people are making money trying to convince the public that the sky is falling, with their climate change conclusions. And that's why so many are skeptical. And, just as a reminder to you, you know that scientific truth/theories revamp themselves every couple of decades, so why do you put so much faith in the scientific community who relies on convincing the public of 'global warming from overpopulation and it's consequences', while the same scientific community relies on public funding too keep their power?

      • On the issue of global warming, the scientific community is not a reliable source. They are biased because they are dependent on selling their fears in order to keep their government money coming in. Whenever the scientific community becomes biased and wants a certain outcome, then it can no longer make objective studies. And, how many scientists, government employees, manufacturers, and investors are dependent on selling their ideas to the public, in order to keep their positions/power/influence?

      • I don't "believe" or "not believe" anything on the subject. That's irrelevant and childish, because it's not a matter of personal opinion. I just try to understand the science and decide, for myself, what is most likely.

There is 100% scientific consensus that the average surface and atmospheric temperature of the earth has risen about 1.4 degrees F over the last 100 years. If anyone denies this basic fact, they are simply ignorant.

There is about 90-95% scientific consensus that the rise in temperatures is caused by the increase in carbon dioxide and methane. A minority of scientists question any definitive conclusions.

Most scientists also accept that the temperatures will rise higher in correlation to continued increases in CO2.

I accept the science, and "believe" it, if you want to use that word. I have not seen any credible alternate explanation.

This does not mean many "global warming activists" are not complete goofballs. But science and personalities/politics can be separated.

As a litmus test, anyone I meet who denies that temperatures have risen are immediately placed in the "dumb" category by me. Ignorance of the rest is forgivable, imo.

        Thanks for playing!!

    • How come I'm freezing now? Turned thermostat up and up , still cold. I can't take it !!! Bring on global warming where ever you are !!

    • Another great example of scientific 'truth' bites the dust. For the past four decades, black holes have been accepted by the scientific community as more than theory, they have proven that black holes are a 'truth' of the universe. And they have proven their theories to be truth. And now this bad news from the scientist who theorized black holes and helped prove their existence:

Stephen Hawking helped develop current theories on black holes—but now, one day ago, he's saying there aren't any.

Google 'Hawking says there are no black holes'

Vikkitrader - help me understand your stupid logic - do you wish to live in a fxcking cave and eat tree roots? Stop your make al gore more money, and moron mikey moore more big bucks from the system he hates. Now go plant a dam tree and give it a hug and shut the hell up.

      • I retract and I am sorry for posting stupid comments. Although I have personally caused BP millions of dollars in losses, and although I am one of God's chosen disciples, and although not many can stand me, and although I am a lonely loser, I will prevail. I didn't need college, I didn't need good looks, I didn't need basic manners. I didn't need any of that as long as I have good prescriptions and a big mouth.

        So there.

      • I have planted trees and done more for the environment than most people. Some of it is public, just look how I've held BP's feet to the fire in remedying the Macondo disaster of 2010 that caused untolled death and disaster upon the ecosystem of the Gulf region.

But more to the point, it's not "my" logic that is at issue, it's the science of global warming. I have not stated any particular set of policies should be followed. I have simply raised the factual issue of climate change.

It's clear to me that you're the one stuck in the cave, as most of the intelligent, educated world agrees with ME and not YOU.

I have noting further to say to such on obvious dimwit. This conversation is now over.

    • Global Warming is a religion, not a science. Most of the theorized outcomes have minimal or no evidence to back them. We are suppose to just have faith. (#1.No...not enough factual evidence to support. Findings have been skewed, 80 years subset does not represent accuratly the cycles of tempature for the planet: #2.No... not enough factual evidence to support. Humans and animal life emit CO2 as a waste product, so if you believe this, then your best solution is to kill half of the living things on this planet.:#3.No....Evidence supports that global temperatures are cooling over the last 6-7 years. That is why Climate Change Preachers are spreading gossip about how global warming damaged the POLAR VORTEX and it is leaking cool air out of the polar regions and into the rest of the globe.: #4YES...."Give a hoot, don't pollute" and plant a tree. These are good policies to live by. But, whatever you do, do not buy into POPE AL Gore's "If you let us tax you, we can save the planet" mentality.

      • What a stupid post from "poor-n-simple" (an appropriate moniker, btw). Someone actually took the time to find and post about 4 outliers in the scientific community, likely bankrolled by desperate coal companies, likely publishing controversial opinions because they need attention to revive their fledgling careers.

Now, how about the other 456,000 who disagree - can you post their consensus about global warming? No, you don't care the earth is heating up, do you? You are a simpleton, a rabble-rouser, to be shunned and ignored by the intelligent internet community, to be sure.

What's next from the simpleton, dispatches from the flat earth society? Bring back the Salem witch trials, while your at it!

A stupid, stupid post that barely deserves attention, but fully deserved the full condemnation of this board.

To anyone new to this subject, read my old posts for the facts.

    • Nobody gives a rat's axe about global warming. Look at all the vehicles on the road. Oh, sure, everyone likes to say that they support the green movement. But the fact Is almost no one does. It's a lot like Americans supporting their troops. The furthest most go is to buy a bumper sticker: 'We Support Our Troops!' and then it's out of sight and out of mind. So I reiterate, nobody cares about your global warming.

BTW, how many vehicles do you and your family own and drive? Do you enjoy your AC in the summer and your furnace in the winter? I sure do!

      • ok Phil, let's get the facts straight, shall we? North America is now experiencing an unpredented warming effect. It is crazy warm out there.

Also, I have a lot of readers and followers from Yahoo message boards and Seeking Alpha. I am very very well known and reputable. To take exception with my posts is not in your best interests. I have very powerful allies.

germantownes is already on my list. That is not a good list to be on. He is dumb. You are dumb. You are all childish and irrelevant just like I said.

If only I had been around several thousand years ago, I could have reversed nature and counter acted global warming that caused the ice age to end and the glaciers to receed.

Get this straight too. I drive a bicycle with 3 wheels and a large basket in front for my fruit. I use a hand fan in the summer. I burn smokeless wood in the winter. I don't shave my armpits. I am a nature girl. No need for paper products to absorb my body wastes. I am born free.
