    Publix is a MONOPOLY

Publix is very clearly a monopoly. This supermarket chain opens multiple stores in the same towns in order to block competitors from doing business there.

In fact, I've seen two or more Publix supermarkets within one mile of each other. This is an anti-competitive business practice, and it results in higher prices for consumers.

Now, Publix wants to buy Whole Foods. This merger should not be allowed. It would simply reduce the
number of choices that consumers have and raise the already-rising price of food.

It's time to enforce anti-trust laws.

    • Do not worry, with Publix putting their stores so close together hurts them. They have them closer than that down here in Florida.Their biggest thing is their lack of respect for their workers. The you made more than last quarter you made more than last year.Pump out more freight and if you do not like it there is the door approach.Their retirement money is good.I took it and bought other stocks. Now publix pays money to companies I own.I would not own a supermarket company too little profit margin and too many different stores to choose from.Buy the companies that supply the product. They are in every store.
