I've made some money investing in both DAVE and DAVEW. I do wonder, though, how much higher this thing can go. I like the stock for four reasons:
1. Management. At the shareholders meeting, the VPs (there must have been at least 10 of them) were introduced, and all had extensive restaurant experience.
2. I've eaten at the Linden Hills, Roseville, and Calhoun Square DAVE's, and I enjoyed the food (even though I'm not much of a rib fan), and business was good each time.
3. DAVE restaurants are relatively cheap to put up (about a million bucks per), go up quickly, and at least accordingly to management there's a lot of interest across the country to put up many more.
4. DAVE seems to locate in high-traffic areas.
The only thing that worries me is whether or not DAVE's barbequed ribs can succeed in other parts of the country. I've heard much about how ribs are highly "regionalized". I wonder how much this could slow DAVE's growth.
