What are the chances of RAS being acquired in the near term [next couple years]?
I have noticed a long list of competitors in the REIT "industry." I realize that demographics/geography plays a large part in REIT diversification, therefore a large group of players. RAS seems to have cleared a major hurdle [avoiding self-destruction] and are putting "their" money in long term growth investments. My spouse owns a tad more than a thousand shares [reinvested dividends of course]. I feel comfortable [now] that RAS has a bright[er] future.
But, I can't help but think after looking into some of the other more capitalized REIT's that there isn't any interest in consolidation in the industry after such a downturn and with the phoenix rising, RAS would be in someone's crosshairs. Just a thought.
Boiled...I'm pretty sure they have in place caveats to prevent take overs...of course the BOD could always vote to the waive the rules and accept a buy-out....I think 5% is limit on stockholdings by any one investor....
