just like always, RAS down by MORE than dividend amount
as usual: div = .16, RAS down .19
Coulda, woulda, shoulda sold in the 9.1x range, and bought back today.
Foulger did it, you should have too...
Maybe you would have, if Foulger hadn't lied about how RAS never goes down on x-div days in January!
Who all fell for that big fat bolshoi?
(besides me, I mean...I'll know never to trust him in future...)
LOL. RAS is not down 19 cents. It is down 3 cents. The close is $8.78. Those of us who were long at the open keep a 16 cent dividend. Anyone who was short at the open pays a 16 cent in lieu of dividend payment.
i know, because I've been watching you for seven years, that you like to misrepresent this sort of thing, but you can't change the reality of the numbers. The price went from $8.97 to $8.78 and every long got to put 16 cents in their pocket. Now that ex-div is past, it's likely the price will move back above $9.00 fairly soon.
And just to keep straight, there is no "always". This is the first quarter in 10 quarters were RAS is down more than the dividend at the close on ex-div. Importantly, and those is where your "always" is a complete lie, RAS was up by at least the amount of the dividend in three of those quarters. In two of those quarters the low for the day was higher than the benchmark price.
10/01/2013: After 15 cent dividend, benchmark is $6.93. RAS closed up 2 cents at $6.95.
07/10/2013: After 13 cent dividend, benchmark is $7.30. RAS closed up 13 cents at $7.43. The low was $7.32.*
04/01/2013: After 12 cent dividend, benchmark is $7.85. RAS closed up 2 cents at $7.87.
01/14/2013: After 10 cent dividend, benchmark is $6.10. RAS closed up 30 cents at $6.40.. The low was $6.12.*
10/09/2012: After 09 cent dividend, benchmark is $5.15. RAS closed even $5.15.
07/09/2012: After 08 cent dividend, benchmark is $4.65. RAS closed up 1 cent at $4.66.
03/26/2012: After 08 cent dividend, benchmark is $5.17. RAS closed up 6 cents at $5.23.
01/05/2012: After 06 cent dividend, benchmark is $4.78. RAS closed up 8 cents at $4.86..*
10/05/2011: After 06 cent dividend, benchmark is $3.19. RAS closed up 5 cents at $3.24.
I've asterisked the days when RAS was up as much or more than the dividend payment, and noted the low for the ex-divs in RAS was NEVER down as much as the amount of the dividend.
Best of luck, wat. I thought you were smarter than this.
The acolytes did not sell because he directed their attention to his left hand as it typed of the inevitable tens and elevens and the ifs and the quite likelies and the most probables, while the right hand was selling his shares a major discount to the spell the left hand cast.
