Been thinking of dumping this one, it's been a bit dissappointing lately. Yield good but other opportunities out there as good. Is it the Europe situation or.... With all the buybacks lately I would think this would be doing better.
<<dumping>> how about selling at a good price and getting back in lower? I think VOD is pricey here but I'm not selling. Its in my buy price range here but could well trade down to $25 on the next European bank/country problem or DC nonsense here.
To begin with -- what do you want from your VOD investment? There is a currancy failure which is set even if no one tells us the results up to now. Forget the currancy situation unless you are currancy trading. VOD is part owner with VZ (verizon) and has of recent date received a 'dividend' from Verizon. Last year I head somewhere that VOD might declare an extra dividend with this additional dividend income from VZ. VOD has good fundimentals. If you were invested in a DRIP (stock reinvestment plan) last year you discovered more new shares in your account because of the good cash dividend buying more shares at lower purchase prices. DO NOT WATCH YOUR STOCKS ON A DAY TO DAY MOVE. This will drive you crazy with the famous would have could have what should I have! Good Luck with your decision. William, retired
I bought a couple years ago after a Barron's story about the potential for a VZ wireless dividend. So $4.5B should go to VOD on Jan 31 -it's about freaking time!
I will hang on because VOD is still the best play I can find on global wireless growth -and I am being paid twice the yeild of treasuries while it grows.
VOD has performed reasonably well considering the currency weakness with the pound and euro. I have to believe that sooner or later VZ will have to pony the really mega billions to take VOD out versus paying them a huge portion of their free cash flow from VZ wireless in the form of dividends. Just my opinion but I will hold my position until there is some fundamental reason to sell.
