    The Box

When Bill and Hillary first got married Bill said, "I am putting a box under the bed. You must promise never to look in it." In all their 30 years of
marriage, Hillary never looked. On the afternoon of their 30th anniversary, curiosity got the best of her and she lifted the lid and peeked inside.

In the box were 3 empty beer cans and $81,874.25 in cash.

She closed the box and put it back under the bed. Now that she knew what was in the box, she was doubly curious as to why there even was such a box with such contents. That evening, they were out for a special anniversary dinner.

After dinner, Hillary could no longer contain her curiosity and she confessed, saying, "I am so sorry, Bill. For all these years, I kept my promise and never looked into the box under our bed. However, today the temptation was too much and I gave in. But now I need to know, why do you keep the 3 beer cans in the box?"

Bill thought for a while and said, "I guess after all these years you deserve to know the truth. Whenever I was unfaithful to you, I put an empty beer can in the box under the bed to remind myself not to do it again."

Hillary was shocked, but said, "Hmmm, Jennifer, Paula and Monica. I am very disappointed and saddened by your behavior. However, since you are addicted to sex I guess it does happen and I guess 3 times is not that bad considering your problem."

Bill thanked her for being so understanding. They hugged and made their peace.

A little while later Hillary asked Bill, "So why do you have all that money in the box?"

Bill replied "Well, whenever the box filled up with empty cans, I took them to the recycling center and redeemed them for cash."

    • Interesting. Now, if I replace the pimp with cheneyhead, the hooker with American citizens who get screwed for living, and the johns with CEO of energy companies, funny, it also works.

What would the DNC Chairman become? Possible choices include head of FERC or FEMA.

    • Well, I was trying to be kind....:)

    • SQZR, I laughed so hard I almost wet the RNC card in my pocket!!

You give the DNC too much credit.

If they ran the operation described they would first have the hookers unionized, the "johns" would then have to use the services of the most senior "laborers".

As the demand for the seasoned workers "labor" subsided, other non union entrepenures offering a competitive and attractive set of options to the paying clientel.

The "business" would move to the other shops and the DNC would be left with a large group of people very capable of giving blowjobs but without a desire from the public to receive them from this particular group.

While this might accuratly describe the DNC, It doesn't describe how they would run an actual business.

    • "Well, of course you have chose a criminal activity ..."

Criminal activity? Services like this remain perfectly legal in Nevada, for instance. At least a variant of the situation. (I thought you were the "big picture" guy and would have understood this).

    • Well, of course you have chose a criminal activity to try an refute the concept. But I'll bite. Assumming the pimp/hooker relationship is entered into voluntarily by both parties, the pimp contributes to the delivery of the product. He may provide advertising, he finds and qualifies customers, he provides protection and transportation, he does quality control, he finds replacement workers when girls are absent, and he serves as a "bank" for the enterprise.

In many ways, he is like the DNC Chairman.

    • Re:

"Many believe the wealth belongs to those who produce it."

      Per the following scenario:

A pimp procures 10 tricks for one of his stable, at a $100 a throw, net total $1000.

How much of the $1000 has the pimp produced?

    • Many believe the wealth belongs to those who produce it.

I'm a fan of Clarence Darrow; I think the dispute lies somewhere in the interpretation of this statement, which I wholeheartedly agree with, BTW.

    • I think your fundamental problem in understanding is that you assume your values and positions are by definition right, and you cannot consider that everyone may not agree. This leads you to cite many arguable things as "proof" of incompetence, or evil motives.

As a small example, you listed the limitation on the deduction of union dues on your income tax as some kind of wrong. Well why in the hell should such dues be deductible at all?

You continue to rant that the "rich" get all the income tax breaks. Well that is because they pay most of the income tax. You can't give significant dollar tax breaks to those who already pay little, or none. Try to get it thru your head that everyone doesn't buy the idea of "redistributing" the wealth. Many believe the wealth belongs to those who produce it.
