My prayers your way, sir.
Bless you and your family, and hope that you can find solace and even comfort.
I have a nephew who has Downs and Cerebral Palsy. He is a joy to me! He's in his thirties now, I think. A big part of our family, David is.
Good thoughts, prayers, and blessings your way.
You have enough friends on this BBS already, and allow me to give you some suggestions. DS at present has no cure, but with proper care, the baby can be healthy and productive. I expect in 5 to 10 years, some form of cure may appear.
What is the situation of your daughter? Does she have insurance coverage? If so, tell her to do whatever necessary to keep the job. Also, please give the baby a lot of love.
I have a feeling that finance may be an issue now. Your daughter should have the test early. But let me stress the point again, there is nothing wrong with the baby. S/he needs proper care and love.
cure??? are you nuts? a chromosome can't be cured. A cure? have you gone nuts? they can't even find a cure for autism and you say something as irresponsible as a cure for downs? shame on you for saying so. I wish it were true.
Thanks for prayers and support.
Both daughter and her husband have good jobs with medical insurance. They turned down the screening test during 1st trimester as they said that they were against abortion. I am also against abortion, but wish they had taken the test... at least for advance warning, if not the chance to reconsider the abortion option.
They baby is in ICU with a hole in the heart ventricle and unable to maintain body temp. Currently holds at only 90.6 degrees without being warmed.
As for being healthy and productive, I could hope for such but I prefer to hope the heart quits. I still pray for strength and comfort for them to deal with whatever the outcome. It does make me feel cold & distant to what I had hoped to be a joyful new grandson.
Amniocentesis testing is notoriously unreliable with many false positives that leave families in anguish for the entire pregnancy. My daughter went through her pregnancy after the test showed an abnormality, but the baby was fine. She would not have the test run again having learned from that horrible experience. In addition, I would suggest you check into the human race and show a little compassion towards your fellow man.
Hey asshole, aardvark and his family have their hands full and are dealing with a very tough issue, who needs your after the fact comment?
Take a long walk off a short pier you friggin' turkey.
