The space shuttle explosion could be blamed on bean counters
Someone at some level of mgmt said to go on with the launch, even though the temps were too low to rely on for safety's sake.
"It'll cost a fortune to delay the launch" was probably the concern to him.
It wasn't some 1st level mgr either, it was someone high enough on the food chain to make a difference.
How funny, I thought Northrop worked for it's customers.
How silly of me.
Frig the grunt on theline wrenching in support off the prduct and customer.
There was a time Norair was a good company to work for, one that realized success had a price.
The legacy mgmt team said to keep on dancing with them that brung you to the ball in the first place.
It's what made the company able top grow into one of the largest and most successful companies in theindustry.
Bean counters haven't contributed shit to the company making itself a standout.
Yeah we know that is the standard MBA line: The purpose of management is to increase stockholder equity. That is why thousands, if not millions of American jobs have been offshored. And the middle class is shrinking in the US: To increase stockholder equity. At this rate there won't be a need to have NOC because there will be no country left to defend and provide weapons to. It will have been sold off and offshored.
NOC is not one of the top 100 companies to work for anymore like it was in the 80's. The new regime is bottom line oriented. Every year they keep cutting our benefits by the death of a thousand cuts. The original legacy NOC is nearly gone as most have left the company or retired. The few remaining have seen the changes over the years and they have not been for the better necessarily as far as the employee is doing.
So lets review the facts:
1. Which benefits have been reduced.
2. The pension and matching 401K
contribution has not changed in the last 6 years.
3.Yes, there have been layoffs , but then again so has Lockheed-Martin, HP, Intel, DRS , United Tech and yes Boeing also.
4.I agree the work force moral is way down, so is the economy.
Instead of complaining about the good old days just be thankful you have a job to go to.
