It is so absurd to hear so many sellers whine about ebays price hikes. I do not see what the big deal is. Wow a whole five dollars a month increase and a % increase on sales is going to drive people to bankruptcy. What a joke. It is so similiar to when I hear property owners whine in NY about a 400 dollar increase a year when they own 3 million dollar apartments and 10 million dollar townhouses. Or when I hear someone on the news who is making 300,000 dollars per year whine about a milk increase. I am not saying that Ebay store owners are making this much money, however if you are successful store owners this increase will not affect you and if it does then you shouldn't be in business in the first place. If your items are priced so low then Ebay isn't making any money what so ever on your sales and you are clogging up their servers. Ex IF you sell an item for $2.00 and average 1,000 of these items per month, what is Ebay gettting; a very small fee. By driving these sellers away Ebay in effect will clear up some of the junk clogging its site. These sellers would be nothing if it wasn't for Ebay. Go ahead to Overstock or Bidville or wherever but please do us all a favor and don't come back you ungrateful lots.
Wow a whole $5 a month. Has anyone been to the grocery store lately? Or has anyone filled up their car with gas or been to a movie lately. Have you reupped your membership in the gym. These thieves charge an extra $200 a year just for a membership fee and that keeps on increasing.
I am sure all of you whiners glady plunk out $40 or more for a concert or for drinks at the local pub. If you are serious about doing business and feel this $5 fee is going to affect you so very much then skip on the cerial for one week at the supermarket or don't get that extra slim jim at the 7/11.
You cannot tell me with a straight face that this $5 increase is going to drive you out of business. Go out to a real store and see how much rent you will be charged and GET A LIFE WITH ALL OF THIS WHINING FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL.
I myself am not rich however I sell on Ebay and have been since inception. I find that with each increase I am offered additonal services which help sell my items for a better price. I have seen trading assistants who charge 40% to sell an item(how is that for an increase in fees) and many people are lining up to sell their wares through trading assistants.
I just wanted to bring to light some common sense in this issue. For those of you on this board who are not familiar with Ebay I wanted to explain how absurd all of these whiners are about the price increase.
The stock price isn't dropping because people care about a rate hike, per se -- it's the fact that EBAY is scrambling to meet unrealistic earnings expectations in a market that has reached a plateau. They can't raise prices every quarter. In fact, they can't raise prices at all without losing some market share, particularly among the many sellers who work on razor-thin margins there.
And the ripple effects with YHOO and GOOG are all about the unrealistic expectations for stunning earnings. Quarter after quarter after quarter.
