Everybody understands. They just thought the hype about 30% tax rates would continue.Also, consider, nearly 25 cents of the 1.22 just "earned" is interest on Google's cash. Some "business" eh?
OK. Some of their earnings come from their huge cash position. That is true of any insurance company or bank. I am certain that Microsoft makes a portion of their money through investments as well.It still seems to me that analysts or somebody would have seen this tax as an issue? Did the CFO simply make a bad choice?
Everybody pays about 40% tax. Every analyst, every CFO, everybody knows that. Nobody is surprised by the reality, only by the changing spin.
