1/31/2006 Whisper Number was 1.99. Wall Street Estimates were 1.76. Actual numbers were 1.54 and the stock cratered close to 100 points instantly. The Fire exit is pretty small compared to the size of the crowd that will be running for that exit.
It's even worse than that. The actual number was 1.25 in Q4, not 1.54. Google earned 372 million; there were 297 million shares outstanding.
Well, wall street accepted $1.54, then puked.
I have to admit, when the one analyst said "Jaw dropping earning" my mouth fell to my glass slippers.
