not bad guesses, j. I was thinking high teens myself. The long-term picture has not changed. Google can cut some of the costs that hurt this Q's results at any time (like labor) if they don't produce a good return. They said growth is accelerating. I think my 508.25 long entry will go down as one of the best entries in history.
They were expectated to smash estimates, especially in the light of the yahoo's poor results. The fact they only missed by estimates by a small amount is irrelevant.
Over the short term a stock trades on sentiment, for the time being google will be viewed in a negative light. Put it another way, how many people will be hovering over the buy button, compared to the people looking to sell.
Well, the market never seems to make alot of sense.
What happened? They missed *wall street* estimates since they don't publish their own by .03 on a $3.59 number. Now,thats less than a 1% miss and look at the underlying growth - 58% YoY.
Show me where else you can find that kind of growth YoY. A couple penny miss on an estimate put out by some college grads 2 years out of school isnt worth all that much.
Goog may have had their own target of $3.50. If they publish that and then hit $3.56 there are all kinds of fireworks.
I think you have to look at the underlying numbers here folks. This is a cash cow and growing to the size never seen in the tech space outside of MSFT,ORCL and IBM and they are doing it MUCH faster.
I think it would be crazy for it to dip below 500 but the market has alot of emotion.
It should rebound nicely... If this thing does go below 500 - I think some dec 550 options would look good.
google is huge there is nothing better then it, yes they missed it by a little , these people who sold off our weak share owners u need to get raid of them , this stock will bounce back and head towards 600.00 mid august
Difficult to predict
When people expect a train crash it seldom happens.
In this case I will say $465
I base this Google's and Yahoo's poor earnings
As website designers and owners become more astute in the world of SEO and SERPS the need for PPC lowers. Adsense is crude and avoided by serious web users.
Google certainly have the market share in this sector of this there is no doubt, has it reached a peak or is there more in the tank? I believe short term google and yahoo will suffer a little as forward estimates are re-evaluated.
