    • Who was COKING what and who really was on the "birdseat" at the time in 1999? Was it Doerr or Page/Brin? I would say it was Doerr from the Shadow of you GUESS what?...???

Remember, back in 1999, Google didn’t even have any revenues to speak of and hardly any idea how it would make money. (AdWords and AdSense would come later). But Page is, if anything, an outside-the-box thinker.

      ------------

Derr: Why should we say anything about what we're doing until we have happy customers, and we're ready to try to expand and grow our market? You see many more entrepreneurs wanting to remain in stealth mode for a long, long time. The smart ones, anyway.

Re: Show me the HISTORY of ON2 NOT Hantro!!! 17-Apr-11 08:56 am

Q: The venture capital survey shows a decline in VC investing (in the third quarter), but some suggest one reason may be artificial: Start-ups are trying to stay under the radar longer and not announcing their VC funding.

Doerr: The entrepreneurs want it that way. Ten years ago, as soon as a venture was funded by a reputable venture capitalist, within six months, two or three clone ventures would be launched like heat-seeking missiles right up their tailpipe. People got wise to that. Why should we say anything about what we're doing until we have happy customers, and we're ready to try to expand and grow our market? You see many more entrepreneurs wanting to remain in stealth mode for a long, long time. The smart ones, anyway.

When John Doerr Met Larry Page
      Erick Schonfeld Apr 4, 2011

Consider this anecdote from Steven Levy’s soon-to-be-released book, In The Plex, which I was reading last night. The book describes the first time Kleiner Perkins venture capitalist John Doerr met Page and Brin in 1999:

The meeting was just ending when Doerr asked a final question: “How big do you think this can be?”

      “Ten billion,” said Larry Page.

Doerr just about fell off his chair. Surely, he replied to Page, you can’t be expecting a market cap of $10 billion. Doerr had already made a silent calculation that Google’s optimal market cap—the eventual value of the company—could go maybe as high as one billion dolars. “Oh, I’m very serious, said Page. “And I don’t mean market cap, I mean revenues.”

Remember, back in 1999, Google didn’t even have any revenues to speak of and hardly any idea how it would make money. (AdWords and AdSense would come later). But Page is, if anything, an outside-the-box thinker.

      • Google to Put YouTube Videos on Its Ad Network
        By MIGUEL HELFT
        Published: October 9, 2007

The Internet search giant is expected to introduce a service on Tuesday to allow Web sites in its ad network to embed relevant videos from some YouTube content creators. A Web site or blog specializing in hiking, for instance, might choose to embed hiking videos from YouTube.

The service, which represents the first major combination of a Google product with YouTube, will give video creators wide distribution beyond YouTube via Google’s network, known as AdSense. Since the videos will be surrounded by ads, the service is another way for Google to cash in on the huge number of video clips stored on YouTube.

Several other networks distribute videos and ads on the Web, but none reach as many Web sites as AdSense.

Google said it would share revenue from the ads with the creators of the videos and with the Web sites that embed them, though it declined to specify what percentage of the revenue will be kept by each party.

“We are creating incremental distribution for our content providers,” said Christian Oestlien, product manager for AdSense. Mr. Oestlien said the system would also allow publishers to make their Web sites more compelling and give advertisers a new way to reach customers.

Other similar attempts to syndicate video, however, suggest that success is not assured for Google’s new service. For instance, the video technology start-up Brightcove, which has been syndicating videos from various media companies since early last year, said that the adoption of its service had been largely limited to small Web sites.

“Any Web site that is medium to large typically doesn’t want arbitrary content showing up,” said Jeremy Allaire, Brightcove’s chief executive. “The sites that take it are typically very small sites with limited traffic,” so the system can generate only modest revenue, Mr. Allaire said.

AOL Gets Permission From SEC To Keep Its Google Search Deal Secret
Jay Yarow, On Monday December 13, 2010, 4:12 pm

How much is AOL's new Google search deal worth? We don't know. And it looks like we won't learn through SEC filings.

In a new filing, first tweeted by Footnoted, AOL was granted permission from the SEC to keep the search deal terms secret.

    • From the point of shareholdrs, a toxic relationship existed between Google and On2's M&A broker. This is a very serious violation to any M&A activity, and as such must lead to change in deal terms. It cannot go through like it stands now.

      This is NOW:

In 2007 the Finnish company Hantro was acquired
      by On2.

      1) ON2 and O'hare & WR + Hambrecht (Hambrecht previous owner of H&Q)

      2) O'Hare moves to Oppenheimer to continue ON2 & Hantro Deal

      3) O'hare Moves to Pacific Crest

      4) Who is ON2's Market Maker??

      5) Who was ON2's Underwriter?

      6) Who was Thinkquick?

This is a brief summary from Bornie. To prevent being identified as the MAJOR PLAYER in
the ON2 and Google Merger, Hambrecht seems to be using O'hare and Armstrong as
a MAIN player in the game and moving them to the "background" and "cleaning" the tracks
and bringing Pelosie as one of the main player of UFT, in addition to Hambrecht, they are
STEALING ON2's current shareholders stocks at about $0.32, should one of Pacific Crest
      [missing end of sentence]... ?

Schmidt the CEO of Google. Hambrecht and Schmidt go back to the days of Novell and
      even have a vineyard together.

Another partner of Bill Hambrecht is Tim Armstrong, formerly of Google.

Tim Armstrong and Bill Hambrecht are partners in the up and coming launch
of the UFL - United Football League set to debut in 2010.

The plan is that they will broadcast their games through Google's YouTube and use it as
the main venue for streaming the games.

VP8 from On2 would probably do the trick to stream those games in High Definition via
      YouTube on an LCD.

Don't you find it strange that Hambrecht Schmidt and Armstrong are all linked to Google
and the associates of Bill Hambrecht (Michael O' Hare and Chris Hieb) orchestrate the
buyout of Hantro for On2 and that subsequently the CEO of On 2 Bill Joll is fired under
very strange circumstances and never replaced and then 2 years later Schmidt who is
intimately connected to Hambrecht and the UFL on a business level has a deal to buy On2
      for almost nothing?

The UFL may also be why Armsrong left Google as it is just all too close with Hambrecht as
his partner and Hambrechts Merger and Acquisition people, OHare and Hieb, doing the On2
      Investment Banking?

Maybe he got cold feet and they pinned the cooked books on him as an excuse to get rid of him and drive done the stock. Funny how no big punishment as he got paid through the summer and kept his options and no one turned him in for a Sarbox violation.
