obviously you have never heard of consensus analyst estimates which are tracked e.g. by Yahoo Finance - looking there you might find out that expectations for the quarter were lower than what the company actually reported both on the revenue and eps side.
to make things worse you are also looking at the wrong metrics - as this is a cloud based software company eps numbers are misleading - relevant metrics are license revenue growth and deferred revenue growth which both came in at another healthy 30%+ number.
so perhaps you might want to look elsewhere for an investment you do understand
Not even a mention of GAAP earnings anywhere! It's 1999 all over again; never thought I would see this day. BTW Analysts estimates were .12 cents eps 90 days ago, and then lowered to .09 cents 60 days ago, then lowered to .07 cents 30 days ago to ensure they could manufacture a pretend "BEAT" so the MMs could rape the shorts again and give institutional bagholders a chance to dump again. This is why I short Salesforce the day after earnings, not the day before. Setting up fo a nice double top deathstar doji candlestick.
Definition of 'Creative Accounting '
Accounting practices that follow required laws and regulations, but deviate from what those standards intend to accomplish. Creative accounting capitalizes on loopholes in the accounting standards to falsely portray a better image of the company. Although creative accounting practices are legal, the loopholes they exploit are often reformed to prevent such behaviors.
