Thats what it was called when they canned a ton of people at corporate about a year ago. NOW it is called Salary Continuation Plan. Books at the stores now. Wags is gonna miss earning thats a given. But how are they gonna make that up?? By canning a lot of retail employees. Believe it it is happening soon. When the service takes a crushing and people have to wait forever to be waited on they will go somewhere else then this management will again cut and more people will be fired and worse service so more people will leave and down will go profits again. I saw it happen with Rite Aid its happening now with Walgreens. Management it trying to make up for the mistakes of clinics, POWER by cutting at the base. I believe they will do anything to the employee to make the stock rise a buck. Poor real poor. Tommorrow a list of cuts employees had to put up with....and its growing.

Sales have been marginal at best. My guess is the CVS/Caremark issue was intended to get all of the bad news out this quarter. That would include overpaying for Duane Reade and having no clue on how to to run an acquisition even under the old name. For twenty five years nobody did anything as well as Walgreens according to their management. With only one comeptitor left they can now say nobody does anything worse. If this puppy trades in extended hours I would be the first to say sell before they release their earnings.
I heard that employees at Corporate Headquarters in third party accounting department are training people from India how to do "their jobs" and then they get laid-off. How many Americans are going to be unemployed because companies like Walgreens give American jobs to other countries?

your a stupid moron. The salary continuation plan is another one of walgreens excellent benefits providing up to 9 months of full time pay for many of its employees. Why is honesty such a tall order for you? If your short then just come out and say I'm short and heres why and people would have alot more respect for you.
The plan may be well intentioned but stating that "We come out with these booklets every 10yrs" as it was explained to me in over 30 yrs I haven't received any until the the uncertain reality of not making a quarter. Well intentioned projects are what is killing this company, and the management whose interest isn't in selling ss items so much as selling drugs. This accountant's view will kill this company.
