I took what I presume will be a long position I this equity a few months back and am delighted with the performance thus far. Initially I just "bought the tasty dividend", but immediately caught an updraft in the price. Since I'm now a co-owner in WAG, we've been increasing our shopping and prescription fulfillment at Walgreens (sorry CVS, hopefully you'll still make payroll (-: ) Are any of the message board members aware of any proprietary pricing we may realize off the listed retail prices at the store? It seems to me it would make sense for WAG to support it's fellow shareholders through discounted pricing. I would expect this perquisite to be applicable to non-sale items only.
There is no discount program for shareholders. If there were it would be unique to the industry and quite likely unique among all publicly held companies. I for one have never heard of such a program. They would probably have to raise prices to stay solvent. Sure would like to have a discount off my cars. I own Ford & Nissan stock.
Definitely not a discount and my local store knows that I'm a shareholder and I get no discounts whatsoever. In fact, Walgreen's tends to run numerous ads at one time and I usually shop by the Sunday ad and when I went in recently to purchase milk I was told the sale ended yet in fact the sale would not have ended until Saturday night, prior to the new ad coming out on Sunday morning. I could have fought the issue but figured I would just accept the price as it was even though I was extremely unhappy.
