Walgreen Co. Message Board

Imagine owning a Business and having no say over how your employees spend your money.

Welcome to the unjust world of the shareholders. CEO's ARE NOT the owners of Corporations, the shareholders are. If a Company like Walgreens can just pack up and move out of the US what protections will there be for the Shareholder, (The true Owners of the Corporations)?

    • To be best of my knowledge the SEC provides the only "protection" to shareholders. As long as WAG is listed on the NYSE or any other U.S. exchange they will still be subject to the scrutiny of the SEC. The big banks and others interested in WAG moving to Switzerland are shareowners also. If you add up the shares of WAG management and board of directors, and add those of several large financial institutions you will realize that independent shareholders of WAG have little clout in influencing this type of decision.
