There is not enough pharmacists in the nation to
fill rxs and counsel patients. If you want to earn as
much as a pharmacist, go to pharmacy school. It will
be a tough 6yrs of straight schooling ,most
pharmacists now have Doctor of Pharmacy degree. You must get
accepted first: schools have 5 applications for every seat
open. But that is the easy part, the hard part is
getting through school 40% of my class did not get
through the school... If I was you, I would concentrate
in getting EXA status in Walgreens then I would bust
butt and become a store manager and earn a better pay,
possibly a pharmacists pay--or is that too hard? If you
think so, then you do not earn to be paid as much. A
business degree or communications degree will not open
doors by itself, you must hustle.

    • My husband is a Walgreen's store manager after
putting in his time as an Assistant, an EXA and,
eventually, manager. He had good stores but mostly stores
that needed "straightening out". He worked in 7am-10pm
stores and 24 hour stores. That was fun! The pharmacist
at his current store says that he wishes he was the
store manager because of the stress behind the pharmacy
counter. I would give him two weeks! My husband works very
hard, and subsequently, had a very nice bonus check to
show for it! If a person has the desire & ability, he
or she can work their way up also to store manager
or beyond with one new store opening per day!
