Store visits have always been a method to get a
sense for what the company is up to. I do agree some of
the comments are not terribly relevant but info like
product, promotions, level service, rx counts can tip one
off as to what the Company is trying to do. Whether
they succeed or not is another matter. But store
visits can provide insight...assuming you know what to
look for.
please get on a travel board....who cares about your stupid little trips.......this board is to discuss walgreen stock....
not your osco trips........yuk
The founders wife, Gertrude Walgreen, refused to let Playboy and any other sexually explicit magazines on the magazine racks. So, what someone believes strongly enough may influence policy.
I know who you are and your a wimp. Wa, Wa, and more Wa. Quit playing with yourself....
I saw a lot of Rite Aids when I was in Utah for 3
days during Easter Break. I just went in one by our
hotel. It was an old Payless Store, that had been
purchased by Payless from Osco in the early 90's. It felt
just like an Osco, looked like an Osco, even had some
signage that said Osco.. still... sort of funny. I went
the day after Easter and they had to get manager
approval to give me the Easter items at half price despite
the fact there were very large signs on the seasonal
aisle that said Easter 50% off. In the 5 minutes or so
that I was at the checkstand (boy wonder when Rite Aid
will replace those with their fine checkout counter),
not one other customer came up. There were 4 other
customers in the store, all of which were sitting or in
line at the Pharmacy. They've killed the front ends on
the west coast. WAG will be ready. Hope WAG doesn't
have the same flop in other places that they've had
here. Not doing well here, and I can tell you it is
because of POOR store management, who will not even check
customers when 8 of them are in line. I saw this on a few
different occassions. They won't have to worry about 8 in
line anymore; now there are never more than 5
customers in the whole store at any one time.
wag is about to rise.
Walgreen Says May Same Store Pharmacy Sales Rise 17.9 Percent
In mid-January it was announced WAG would enter the Salt Lake City area, probably within a year from now.
And why should we believe Rite Aid when they say
that they have stores in Utah?? For all we know, they
only have stores in Nevada and Colorado, seeing as how
their information is not really so reliable after all!
