Correct... the ONLY WAY they could pass this #$%$ 'compromise' which is pretty much a Democrat bill actually, but they reduced how many taxpayers they would screw to get some Republican support ... but the ONLY WAY TO PASS THIS CR*P IS IN A LAST-MINUTE "PASS THIS OR THE WORLD WILL END" CRISIS.
Obama and the Democrats realized this back after the oct 2008 crisis TARP votes.
TARP was cr*p too - a blank check for an idea that within 2 weeks after the bill passed secty Paulson realized "oh, its not going to work' so they went with the 'cram banks with money whether they want it or not' plan.
This bill was passed in the heat of a 'fiscal cliff; *crisis* ... what crisis?
Oh, spending cuts that Congress and Obama PROMISED they would make were actually being made .... ooops.
And, tax hikes that expired at the time it was previously agreed to make them expire.
overstating the crisis nature of this was all part of the plan to get a #$%$ bill through.
Without the pseudo-crisis, cooler heads would have noticed "HEY, WHERE ARE THE SPENDING CUTS?" and "WHY DIDNT THEY MAKE THE TAX RATES PERMANENT 2 YEARS AGO?"
