    Judge says generic OK

US Judge Rules For FDA In Generic Lovenox CaseLast update: 2/7/2012 10:36:21 AMBy Brent Kendall Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--A federal judge ruled Tuesday that the Food and Drug Administration didn't exceed its authority when it approved a generic version of the Sanofi-Aventis blood-thinner Lovenox. U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington rejected Sanofi's arguments that the FDA departed from its own rules when it approved a generic version of the drug made by Sandoz, a unit of Novartis AG (NVS, NOVN.VX). Sanofi filed the suit in July 2010, the same month FDA granted the Sandoz approval. The Washington court, in an August 2010 ruling by a different judge, already had rejected Sanofi's request for a preliminary injunction blocking the sales of the Sandoz version of the drug.
