Definitely he could take IACI private. He and Malone can easily get the finances line up and offer a 18 billion private takeover. This company is generating 1.8 Billion free cash flow per yr, that's a 10% FCC yield. If Barry/Malone can get cheap financings like a 5% to 6.5% interest deal - vs the 10% FCC yield - the deal will pay itself and some for the buyout guys.
Meanwhile, if you bot this thing in the mid 30s, and if Barry takes this private, you lose!!
I was just thinking the same thing--$30-ish would probably get the deal done after this tepid earnings report. My basis is just under $30, so I would welcome the bid at this point, although I do think the company could go much higher long-term if it stays public. Psychology definitely plays a role in investing--probably more than it should. Now that I have a loss, I just want to break even, even though the basic fundamentals aren't much different from when I initially bought at $28 and change.
Yeah, it does suck when you invest based on traditional fundamental analysis and you get jerked around so much that you don't know whether to shit or go blind. I changed my style a while ago to one that uses less leverage and where I just make my calls and let the chips fall where they may. The ups and downs still make me want to puke, but my patience has already started to pay off in some investments that I would have been scared out of in my rapid fire trading, panic sell on the least bit of bad news days. Good luck.
