Heart of R&D flatlined two years ago

A company which is a pure R&D play, as is Geron, must rely on its scientific and entrepreneurial talent. Geron lost the latter nearly twenty years ago, and the former finally bled out and is officially dead now that TA IP is gone. What is left is science that sort of equates to a map for the Lost Dutchman Goldmine. Intriguing potential but without some creative genius there's little chance of a SHAREHOLDER payoff. Geron is being run by bureaucrats with no track record for entrepreneurial development of R&D. They are the corporate scavengers of failing ventures. Someone nearly ten years ago told me that investing in Geron for the near term was a dead money situation. I've come to understand the reasoning, and it is a sad but honest evaluation of the post Dr. West company. West infected his dream team with a card carrying member of the Proletariat, and Barkas became the disease that slowly suffocated their opportunity, at least in this corporate shell. It also set back the telomerase and hESC science a decade or more. There are more than a few new dream teams sizing up regenerative biology. If you are looking for high risk and return, sell Geron and buy one or more of these new ventures. If you are looking for a modest payoff that will heavily favor insiders and has a substantial risk of failure, hang on.
