    • If the help had been spread out then folks like you would be complaining even louder that not enough was being done for the poor in N.O.
      ==============================================
      No, I'd be complaining about the inadequate preparedness of FEMA for the task.

    • >>Good (Bush finally acknowledged a mistake!!!), <<

      he didn't say whose mistake it was (it was BLANCO's)

      btw, did you ever read this story:

      http://www.nola.com/newsflash/louisiana/index.ssf?/base/news-18/1125239940201382
      .xml&storylist=louisiana,

      note this excerpt (along with a few others):

      >>The mayor called the order unprecedented and said anyone who could leave the city should. He exempted hotels from the evacuation order because airlines had already cancelled all flights.

      Gov. Kathleen Blanco, standing beside the mayor at a news conference, said President Bush called and personally appealed for a mandatory evacuation for the low-lying city, which is prone to flooding.<<

      she had received that call 24 hours earlier.

    • Good (Bush finally acknowledged a mistake!!!), but it was a day after things hit critical mass on Thursday. The epitome was Fox News digging up Heraldo Rivera to report on the convention center Thursday...

      that may very well be true, but, if it is, then why should the local governments be criticizing the feds if the feds were thinking the same as they were thinking?

      Human nature. It is always easier to blame someone else that to take responsibility.

    • >>I suspect that the local government thought those people would be there for less than 24 hours and then would be returning to their homes.<<

      Yes everyone was ordered to leave. Would have been nice had the local gov't. used those yellow school buses (presently resting in a flooded parking lot) to move those who needed a ride out ahead of time. Haven't heard of anything such as that occurring.

      Plus I and All of America are now being Gouged by BIG OIL for Gas

      Just in time for Labor Day! I would think if this administration werent still in with BIG OIL maybe these bastard companys could shave a few Billion off their quarterly Profits.

      But no...Just like Enron Fucked California... EXXON is gonna fuck us all...on the way home today i saw plenty of $3.49 and such and finally came upon an Exxon that had it at $4.32 a gallon...directly across the street from a Bp that had it at the $3.49...
      ==============================================
      Bill O'Reilly has promised a "major investigation" into the American oil companies on his show this upcoming week... should be interesting to see what, if anything, he comes up with...

      Jesus man ...Is there NO point that you can at least concede a bit that The Administration FUCKED UP? You need to turn away from Faux News (focusing on the Looting with O'Reilly calling for Martial Law last night as New Orleans Police officers were turning in their Badges )
      =============================================
      The media is pre-occupied with looting. But from what I've seen most folks are getting out with the shirt on their back and maybe a bag of clothes. No one rescued has had a big screen tv or 50 pairs of Nikes (that's for O'Reilly.) Hopefully the retailers have insurance to cover their losses, and it's unlikely there would be anyone around to buy what's left for quite sometime. Most folks have lost their homes and cars...

      So why are you and your buddy posting notes on this board instead of speeding down to the gulf to help out?
      =============================================
      Because what they need now is money.

      You do realize the same question could be put to those in favor of the Iraq War... they need folks to drive supply trucks, and last I knew civilians could sign up for that duty.

    • Yeah, but he did get those stranded at the downtown Hilton bussed out at the expense of those at the Superdome...
