michael metz of oppenheimer on channel l3 wall street week, and 1 hour later on wealth track, also channel 13 nyc drehman -- both recommended anadarko; metz mentioned apc had to be a take-out because of its domestic content.
Given the 2.5B BOE proven reserves and potential reserves of 7B BOE discussed by Hackett in his last conference call, and with APC selling at less than $9/BOE less debt, I'm surprised that neither Shell (which is chronically low on proven reserves) or BP (which has been keen on buying companies in the past), have not made offers for APC yet. A take-out price would be at least $90, and probably a lot more if a bidding war develops. The focus on the GOM, and success there to date, has to be very enticing!!!!! JMHO, of course.
