Anandtech has had 2 840 Pro's fail during tests. A customer is now reporting 4 out of 4 failures.
I bet these issues can be ironed out with FW, but it shows you the price you pay to be cutting edge. In the past OCZ was always getting accused of poor quality. Well it looks like the all mighty Samsung is having issues themselves.
One friend of mine is a game designer and has gone through 2 Samsung SSDs and had them fail - safe to say he's not happy. Looks like Samsung has some issues. My other buddy is a programmer and has two Vertex 4's and had no problems at all. I'm really looking forward to getting one. I'm pretty behind on this.
My Samsung 830 128gb SSD works just fine. I can't say that for the OCZ Agility 2 120gb I used to own. The Agility 2 died in less than a week. Funny, I have an Agility 2 60gb SSD that works just fine but the 120gb version was crap. I haven't bought another OCZ SSD since.
one would expect that with the smaller NAND. this could be why samsung is mulling not building that NAND plant? this is also why you didn't see OCZ BF3 using 20NM nand like the liar had said it would be.
Samsung will need the 10 NAND plant which is slated to be completed in 2015. They will need to compete against INTC/MU, who are skipping 10 NAND and will produce 8 NAND instead. INTC/MU 8 NAND should be ready earlier than expected in 2015 as well.
