Iranian leader Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei can give the green light to parliament anytime and they will impeach Ahmadinejad in short order. The pragmatic conservatives are trying to rein him in...but it remains to be seen if Ahmadinejad can outlast Khamenei's failing physical health situation.
People can whine ad nauseum about higher gas prices but there is nothing definitive on the horizon that will "improve" the Persian Gulf Region (or any other hot-button Petro area, for that matter). So prepare yourselves for much higher crude prices due to the eventual serious confrontation with Iran - either via the Bush Admin or Giuliani Admin (unless Gore can pull a rabbit out of the hat).
Yes, consumerith less!
ok, econ 101 (over simplified to make a point)
Raw material $1 + 100% markup = $2 retail ($2 Billions in sales)
Raw material $2 + 100% markup = $4 retail ($4 Billion in sales)
Media screams PROFITS DOUBLED! (yeah whatever)
No, the business model didn't change -- But we have an imbalance of cost of oil to produce 1 gal gas. I say a market correction in gas futures will throw that all out the window.
Only a sour report of same station sales decreasing over Memeorial Day weekend will do that. (and other consumer retaiL)
Oil companies have been engaged in consistent price gouging and market manipulation ever since Hurricane Katrina. The anti-trust division of the United States Justice Department should prosecute the oil companies and send their CEO's to prison for 50 years. There should also be an obscene profits tax slapped on oil and gas traders in addition to the greedy oil companies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These sorts of collective rants are always a cross between tedious and amusing. Teenagers/socialists/industry defenders and over-reactors everywhere, please remember: golf and sex are the only two things one can enjoy in life without skill in either. Live by and with that philosophy and you will be much happier.
Hey Azzwipe...the minute you start buying 50 gallons of milk a week at 3.50 a gallon, then you may consider your assinine remark.
They shouldn't allow dumb people on the internet. It screws it up for everybody else.
With milk there is no drilling, no refining, etc. Cow eats grass, gets milked, milk processed and sold, never ending supply. Congress needs to look at the milk producers, then maybe again not the congress and senate are full of not so honest people who are self serving.
Well, sir or madam, may I offer the following helpful suggestion:
Build yourself a 250,000 barrel per day capacity refinery and then you can "stick it to the man".
"Power to the people !"
P.S. Now get crackin' on getting that refinery built, and let us know when you're done. I'd like to buy some of your cheaper gasoline, too.
One sentence from some recent Senate testimony (by a non-oil person BTW) should clear up your issue.
"Anybody who blames record high US gasoline prices on "gouging" at the pump simply reveals their _TOTAL_ ignorance of global oil supply and demand fundamentals." (emphasis added)
