I hate to change the topics here from dividends and blaming the US for the world's ills. However ... the secret is out that BP and Royal Dutch are discussing the fine points of a mutually beneficial MERGER!
BP screwed up Sohio? You've got to be joking. I worked for Sohio - they blew billions coming out of Prudhoe Bay in the 1980s on E&P in the Rockies, the Mid-Continent, and the onshore and offshore Gulf of Mexico. Some leases bought in the Gulf for >$100MM each - completely worthless. No, BP didn't screw up Sohio at all. BP stopped Sohio from throwing away the billions being earned from Prudhoe Bay.
