    • a couple other "facts", I live in alaska and was in valdez in 89, and also have worked on an oil rig, the way a well operates, a company like BP owns the well, the hire a rig with their crew to do the drilling, the rig owner always has their representitive on the rig, but the rig "tool pusher" manages the drilling, they bring in specialists to do the cement work, like Haliburton, they have othe specialists that supply the drilling mud, etc. It was most certainly not a BP exec. that made the mistake, but ulimately its BP that is responsible because they own the well.

      • To be clear you are suggesting that all of the lawsuits (and no doubt will be numerous) will be setteled out of BP's pockets..seems like the lawsuits I have seen have named RIG, Cam and Hal along with BP..that suggest who will pay is still unclear, nevertheless the 24 bill shaved off BP has built in the markets belief that BP will have to pay thier part of any settlement ...additonally it is my understanding BP only owns 65% of the well.. appreciate your info thanks
