I believe you have to go back to Lyndon B. Johnson to get the first President put in office by Big Oil. Back before we got on this extreme right and left garbage for Republicans and Democrats.

Not really, Obama is to blame. It happened on his watch. He had an opportunity to stop offshore drilling as he promised in his campaign and failed to do so. Remember, that was change we could believe in!

I have to agree with you....Obama was obviously given some presentations by the oil execs about the "safety of offshore drilling" and bought the BS. I would have to presume he received the same type of sales pitch from military generals about the surge in Afghanistan,and got sucked into that as well.
I'm sure it all sounded good to someone who wasn't a drilling engineer - redundant systems....electonic monitoring....long record of safety with Transocean...blah blah blah. -

Not EVERYTHING...just Iraqnam and anything to do with letter corporations "self-regulate"...like mortgage bubble/collapse - and of course, anything related to disasters in the petroleum industry.
