Let's say for sh1ts and giggles that this oil leak costs 5 times that amount-$10 Billion.
BP pays less than $6.5 Billion
APC pays $2.5 Billion
Mitsui pays $1 Billion
Now these estimates don't include any liability on the part of Transocean and Halliburton, that BP is sure to recover.
Even assuming BP pays ALL of the costs, clean-up is about $650MM/month, call it $1.5Bn when it's all done. That's about a quarter of their cash on hand.
The rest is spread out over the next 20 years.
Evidence is that the damage from this is substantially less than the Valdez, however. After one month, it's hit the shore in one place.
You think the damages are limited to "clean up".
You are an IDIOT.. I usually refrain from calling others names. If I can't say what I want to say logically, they probably were not worth saying.
How do you clean up the marine life? Scoop dead fish, and we're done. What do you think is going to spawn in those oil slicks and tar sea beds for the next 10 years or better.
How about recreational, commercial fishing. Tourism. Hotels, everything that has been effected ?
You have NO IDEA what the damages are..
Government probably will levy bigger fines than the amounts you listed.
Valdez was a "spill"!
You can only spill as much as you possibly could have in the container.
LEAK is different.. THERE is NO LIMIT to a leak. How much, or How Long?
This is The GULF. Not some remote Alaskan Eskimo village.
$1.2 billion won't even take care of Florida.FOr a year..
