Topkill had to fail: why
The preasure of the leak is somehow arround 20 000 bar.
The preasure the strongest Pump producing volume is about
6000 bar.(Sulzer)
With 6000 bar you cannot overcome 20 000 bar.
And those criminals know it. They just want to gain some time to get out of their share.
The reason why all the valve mechanism failed is the incredible preasure.
The reason why all the estimation of the leak was far to low is the incredible preasure.
Mankind has no tools and experience to handle such an incredible preasure.
The BP engeniers must have known that before they drilled into the deepest oil bubble ever!!
There is no fault to the technicans on the platform.
With today existing tools they had no chance.
To believe an extra drilling will solve the problem is an
illusion. They never ever can drill into the actual drilling hole. Simply because of navigational problems.
And if they can, they are still confronted with the same preasure they cannot handle.
If there is any chance, it will be a severe explotion (maybe a nuklear explotion) halfway inbetween the oil bubble and the seabed. It also has to be very very close to the drilling hole.
If that fails, the whole atlantic ocean will be polluted.
How could such a drill ever ever be permitted???
Because leading positions are given to buddies in the US.
Ethnic herritage is more important than qualification.

Looks like it did blow apart, they used cheap materials and valves along with a flawed procedure and unskilled crew in a critical environment?

As long as there is flow in the drilling hole you get a preasure decresae by friction. In the moment you you stop the flow full preasur hits the top.
