Obama has been unsuccessfully in stoping this spill. So now the blame game, its the The Bush Administration's fault. But after 40 days what has The Obama Administration's done about the environmental disaster clean up,not a dam thing. The Minerals Management Service was working under your watch Mr. President.Blaming the Bush Administration's is a gross distortion or a paranoid delusion by you Mr president. The BP oil spill disaster is yours, the present Administration.Do somthing now, stop playing golf, and posing with the Duke basketball team.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did Obama create the oil spill? Is the Gov. supposed to clean up mistakes made by corporations? Does the Gov. have the mechanisms to clean up the oil spill? I would guess you are one of the Right Wing crazies that keep spouting, "Too many regulations." Maybe if the Bush appointees wouldn't have beens so busy taking bribes from the oil companies, BP would have had safeguards in place. I see where the head of MM has now resigned after reports of bribes and cozyness with the oil companies.
No, Obama didn't create the spill, but as Obama said yesterday and the day before, it is the federal government's job to protect its people. It is the responsibility of our government to clean up mistakes of corporations when it threatens the livelihood of citizens. We can bill BP for all of it later. The lax response over the past 39 days clearly shows the lack of leadership and some incompetence in the federal government, and that includes Mr. Obama.
He didn't lie about Iraq. He just couldn't reveal all the intelligence we had about Iraq and Iran because that information comes from secret high-tech intelligence gathering methods that can't be revealed to the world. If we tell everyone everything we know about countries like Iraq and Iran, then people can logically work backwards from some of the information we have and figure out what kind of intelligence-gathering capabilities we have. Once they know our capabilities then they can take counter-measures against our intelligence methods, which makes those methods far less effective (and that can have devastating consequences.)
You need to understand that you don't get anything close to the whole truth from the network news. Those shows aren't even worth watching. They're just carefully selected propaganda produced to help the democrat party.
“The American people should know that from the moment this disaster began, the federal government has been in charge of the response effort,” Obama said.
“I ultimately take responsibility for solving this crisis. I'm the president and the buck stops with me,” he said
Obama is right, the explosion, lost of life, spill, etc can be put on BP, Transocean, Bush/Cheney, MMS, etc, but ultimately the resolution of this crisis is up to Obama. Bush didn't fail because Katrina happened. Catastropic hurricanes are not that uncommon along the gulf coast. Bush failed in his response (or lack thereof) following the disaster. Unfortunately for those on the gulf coast it appears Obama is failing in a smiliar manner as well.
Obama on oil spill: 'I am responsible'
The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT has the RIGHT (and the responsibility, in this case, imo) to take charge IMMEDIATELY in the case of an oil spill.
Legislation passed during previous administrations paved the way for IMMEDIATE and COMPLETE action to STEM THE SPREADING OF ANY SPILL, ESPECIALLY TO OUR SHORES.
The Obama administration has not only refused to follow protocol put in place, and routinely used worldwide,
but in conjunction with BP has ALSO REFUSED THE AID OF 17 of the nineteen countries/international entities which offered aid.
Moreover, there has been nothing but OBSTRUCTION of the states in their attempts to protect themselves since the spill occurred. Delay of equipment, refusal to answer phone calls of officials.
Oh boy: Obama proposed downsizing Coast Guard crisis center three months before spill
Crowley said "some of the countries have offered chemical dispersants, gear, booms, the kinds
of things to skim oil off the surface of water."
Those few SENT from the federal government to HELP have instead obstructed progress.
"A former Shell Oil executive told FastCompany.com that a solution to cleaning up the Gulf
Coast Oil spill is right under BP’s noses. John Hofmeister, the former president of Shell Oil,
and Nick Pozzi, a former pipeline engineering and operations project manager say that BP could
use their very own supertankers to suck up the spilled oil in the gulf and possibly salvage it
for sale down the line. The tactic was proven effective during a Saudi spill in the 90’s — it
sucked up 85% of the renegade oil. BP has tankers already sitting in the Gulf of Mexico, so
we’re thinking, with their tactics failing left and right, why don’t they get on this already?
