This is true. Profit-seeking like BPO was doing was EVIL. No conconsciences. Just fools doing what they were told. And no regulators. Even now, Obama coddles BP. This is monopoly capitalism and fascism. Welcome to AMERKKKA
1) Capitalism means that companies will maximize their profits by any means.
Take Enron, GS , Madoff and BP.
2) Only regulation and the law set a limit to what they do.
3) Regulation and the law get corrupted and cease to work.
4) No recourse. We're so screwed.
5) Stick your head in clean Antiguan sand.
Read some history before you post on this board!
The USSR (now Russia) has dead zones (via toxics and radioactive contamination) that dwarf any EPA Superfund site in the USA. Moreover, Warsaw Pact countries were famous for frightening levels of air and water pollution. SOCIALIST-INDUSTRIAL places like East Germany, Poland, Czech, & Hungary are only NOW being cleaned up, under capitalist rule, you fool.
Want more proof? Check out enviro contamination and pollution in Communist China & North Korea, where the enviro destruction is far worse than any place in the CAPITALIST US.
The notion that Socialism is somehow environmentally pristine is a dangerous myth---Stop listening to National Public Radio and get a life.
I do not see anybody defending any of the countries you have listed.
But just because we are better than the dismally anti-environment communist/fascist countries proves nothing--as you see it right now in the Gulf.
I am telling you that there are socialist countries such as Norway which drill a lot--and have implemented rules that prevented a cataclysm taking place in the Gulf. We are good--but obviously we need a little bit of improvement? Or should we do nothing because we are better than mafia run countries like Russia now or Soviet Unin in the past.
Russia, Venezuela, China are not socialist.
They were communist--and now are jungle capitalism/fascist government/dictatorship combinations.
However, Norway is a socialist country..Has a very good safety record --and oil drillers rgre have to use the new BOP --which here Bush Administration decided was too expensive for poor oil companies..
