Oil well blow-out off coast of Louisiana.........

It is too early to determine if oil leaked out, however, it crossed my mind.........because of the way Judge Barbier has handled BP............no company in the future will cooperate with Louisiana over damages from a spill. Barbier has managed to screw the Gulf Coast from any future oil damages............and there will be spills. What goes around comes around and in the end...........from lack of viable leadership...........the people end up with less than nothing. Barbier had a chance to write the book on these disasters...........instead, he could not get his narrow mind around it. The Gulf of Mexico has, remaining, great reserves of oil. It is very dangerous work to feed America's thirst for oil. When future disasters happen.......perhaps even greater than the BP tragedy.................no company in their right mind will offer any help at all. Thank-you Judge Barbier.

    • There's a misperception that BP entered the settlement for the benefit of Gulf residents/businesses. They did it to save money. If I was a BP long, and I believed that BP actually did underestimate the number of claims and payments that would be made (personally I think the Company is a serial liar), I think I would want to ask the General Counsel and CLO how they could've been so negligent.

Stop blaming others for BP's problems.

Future companies who cause major catastrophes in the Gulf will try to settle like BP did. Perhaps they'll try to cap it, but the alternative - lawsuits with punitive damages - are a far worse risk to a company.

Now kindly go find a mirror and ask the person you see to take some personal responsibility.
