When does the "enough is enough" from the government sink in? How long does this madness have to continue? I see nothing but piling on from the detractors here. BILLIONS have been paid and is there no end in sight for this company. b.o. just hates the Brits.... The clean up has been finished and some hope BP is also.......

    • I am afraid it won't stop as long as BP owns a single penny. It may be best to pull out of the US altogether and ignore the organized crime US and State governments.. BP can legally shut its production and refineries down and push gas prices to perhaps $12/gallon. That may be what it takes to bring government to its senses. I don't think they understand BP is out there producing energy for the US. Yes, they are that estranged from the world.

    • BP and the DOJ settled the criminal charges arising from the incident, but were unable to reach agreement on the civil fine/penalty exposure under OPA and CWA. But given that DOJ collected a $1B civil settlement from Transocean, there's no way DOJ would walk away from the civil claim against BP. So Phase I was tried, and the ruling isn't even out yet; Phase II starts on 9/30. The process will not go on forever, but when the parties don't settle, the alternative is trial, and that takes time.
