    Unbelievable 1/3 are counterfit

Cigarette counterfeiting is a problem outside of China. Marlboros and other well known brand that are copied in China are sold abroad. Billions of counterfeit cigarettes make their way in to Britain alone. By one count a third of the cigarettes smoked in Britain are counterfeit with 80 percent of them made in China.

    • Who was that fellow who kept saying Walmart should start selling imported Chinese cigs awhile back? Maybe he was onto something. As many products that ship into this country everyday from China, who's to say ton's of counterfeit cigs don't make it in. I'd bet they even got tax stamps already on them. Who knows? Customs people don't have the manpower nor the capability to examine every shipment. And when we have our Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitanio(sp?), as former governor of Arizona, telling us the border is as secure now as it was when she was governor of the state, that doesn't build any confidence in the borders being secure for me. How about you? You do realize Customs Inspections fall under the umbrella of Homeland Security, don't you? No wonder Napolitanio made her statement. Stinks of self preservation. Why would you expect her to be honest about the situation? Innocent landowners are being threatened and killed by illegal intruders not just along the border, yet this administration sits on their thumbs and throws out, yet again, the old worn out race card. So don't doubt some counterfeit cigs haven't made it through customs. Plenty other counterfeits have.

    • This is very interesting Melvin, It is a new, non physically violent, manifestation of older forms of aggression, our society is still in the old,(manifesting aggression physically), pattern of behavior, but the world has moved on to a more passive form for taking control, the manifestations of which,(the cigarette smuggling is one very visible example), in this case intercepts the funds destined for the treasury and contributes to an incremental weakening of the Nation and her power to with stand the challenges when finally they manifest in less easily ignored forms. If there truly are people who are so sophisticated that they can import these cigarettes and compete with the Government in the Government's home country then things have deteriorated to a dangerous level. Let us hope that you are mistaken, that your sources are wrong-- because if they are not wrong-- the people who move the cigarettes can bring in anything they want and their actions are (Demonstrably) contempt full to the nation and her people.
