    • >What's sad is your continuing, embarassing, whining about pie-in-the-sky stuff way beyond your power or place to manage.

At first I thought you were OK... a bit sour, but generally OK as far as Staples Associates go.

Now? Well... I just wish you'd go back to lurking. You're embarassing yourself and other associates with this bizarre posting behavior.

Once more, with feeling, Mr. Golden: Do Staples and its associates a favor - shut up. <

And exactly what do you have to offer us here besides being an asshole?........................

    • If you did an out of stock walk you'd find maybe 50-100 just in BM. I know the managers check inventory regularly so the fault is not on the side of the store's managers, its on the side of whoever is in charge of inventory in the wherehouse for the East Coast. This store , and others in the region, are just hurting for product and a better product mix. I'm tired of sending customers to CompUSA, Target, Sears, and PC Richard. WE should have it....................

FYI readers: ASSOCIATES have NO EMAIL access at work (like they have time for it anyway). STORE PERSONNEL, including Managers and DMs, have NO convenient WEB access FROM THE STORE. It's Staples.com and some competitor sites ONLY via in-store PC terminals.

Although some might imply otherwise, store associates and managers continue to focus on what matters - customers and their satisfaction. In this fundamental way nothing has changed at Staples. And "'it's a good thing' we've [still] got that!"

    • ...If I were to do a complete out of stock walk in your store today...what would I find? Are you confident enough to stand up and tell me that all your outs are legit and not due to inventory discrepencies. If in fact you are right and your on hand vs. system is 100% accurate...then take that report...e-mail it to Rich Gentry and cc your RVP/DM. Instead of venting.. exhaust some energy in your own box that you have control of.

    • OfficeMax is a disaster area. Staples is definitely better, but problems OfficeMax was having that drove customers to Staples are now happening here also. I hear customers saying that we're turning into Office Max. Sad, isn't it?.................................................

    • My gosh, what are you Staples Associates complaining/ worried about??? It could be worse, you guys could be Office Max Associates. Working within an ass backwards corporate culture with absolutely no direction. We (I'm recently a former associate) lose so many customers as well as associates to you guys that it looks like a mass exodus! Just out of curiosity, what do you Staples associates think of Office Max. I can tell you one thing, quite a few of us actually do our shopping at Staples because you guys actually have things in stock.

    • I could not agree with you more!
Office depot is becoming the powerhouse in retailing. The untapped potential has been awaked by our great leader Bruce Nelson.
He is the "Mack Daddy" making OD the most compelling place to work!

    • I think Office Depot is probably a better buy at these current prices. It's the nuber one retailer in the sector, and is cheaper at the moment.

    • Fortune magazines annual Most Admired Companies list ranks Staples #6 out of the Top 10 Specialty Retailers for 2001. (March 4 issue)
      1. The Home Depot
      2 Lowe's
      3 The Limited
      4 Best Buy
      5 Costco Wholesale
      6 Staples
      7 Circuit City
      8 The Gap
      9 Office Depot
      10 Toys "R" Us
Fortune took the ten largest companies (by revenues) in 58 industries. Then they asked 10,000 executives, directors and securities analysts to rate the companies in their own industries based on special criteria. The eight criteria are: innovation, financial soundness, employee talent, use of corporate assets, long-term investment value, social responsibility, quality of management, and quality products/services. Staples moved to #6 from #7 on the Specialty Retailer list in 2000.
