Value Investor Arnold Van Den Berg Is Finding Plenty of Ideas

buying MORE staples- im sorry for those that bet the wrong way on spls-as you were expecting 14$ but if employment numbers come out later today at 125k + - we are over 16$- and by the time SPLS reports- we could see 17$ - by the end of the year- we could see 19$ (yes a lot of coulds- but the bottom line-is that SPLS did not get downgraded as omax and odepot did. In fact - its still a great buy @ 16 imo......

    • Yes. we know your opinion. you post it every 20min.

How'd that jobs number look? I can't remember, what was it, 100K added or 18K?

Listen SPLS will continue to exist, but in the next few years they will be closing more stores than opening and any opening will be smaller format.

what the retail investing community is missing is that the only large format stores that are going to survive are: Walmart, Target, the buyers clubs(costco, BJs), HD, lowes(technically walmart), furniture stores, supermarkets(but they are in a class by themselves and under threat from the likes of tgt and wmt).

all other large format stores are already on their way out. Big malls' and big store's run has peaked. Online, local(craigslist, free cycle, etc.), are the new retail formats that will take over in the coming decade or so.

If you missed this trend you still have time.
