Staples (SPLS) Might be Worth $20 Per Share to Private Equity
    Dividend Yield: 3.8%
    Revenue Growth %: +96,551.4%
    October 8, 2012

The weak state of the U.S. economy has hurt small businesses, and as a result Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS) revenue growth has slowed and its stock has slumped. According to reports, the low valuation is attracting attention from private equity firms.

A private equity firm betting on a turnaround might be able to buy the company for as little as $16 per share, say reports. Some analysts think this would be a steal, and the company might be able to fetch as much as $20 per share. A present, the stock trades at just under $12 per share, so the upside for investors willing to gamble on a deal is fairly significant.
