    • Looks like a hell of a year for the trader in all
of us. Here is some relevant information. I found a
relatively new website that offers a newsletter and full
access to the site for two weeks, free. I tried it out
of curiosity in June '98 and have seen some great
      returns since. (well over 120%)

      Just a little
something to back up my claim In '98 his short term picks
gained an average of 25% in 10 trading days; long term
holds gained an average of over 65% for the year. Hell,
this guy picked NSOL,CNET, and CMGI for 3/8/99 (+40),
(+40), and (+47 1/2) respectively. Also EPAY on
      3/15/99(+21
      57/64).

      Enjoy!

    • BIG profits were made last week from the 2 stocks
      mentioned in ACCUMULATION ALERT.
      RCCK opened last Monday
AFTER publication at $25 1/4 and went to $40 1/4 by
      Wednesday - up almost 60%.
      RRRR opened last Monday AFTER
publication at $7 1/2 and went to $13 by Friday - up over
      73%.
You could have made very substantial profits from
      either or both.
Make sure to get yourself on the
ACCUMULATION ALERT list for the next issue. You can do this

    • in this market than SPLS. No offense intended,
but maybe you should take a look at
      http://www.homestead.com/rockinstocks/treasuremap.html
Some good suggestions here. Check the Scorecard and
you will find some standouts from last week (all
chosen prior to their gains) IMON +54%, VTEL +87%, OPEN
+53%, and RRRR, which was up as much as 160% since it
was first mentioned about 2 weeks ago! Stock tips
delivered with a sense of humor, to boot. (It even links

    • and we agree its silly.

      Let me get this
straight: you expect the stock to tank because of rumor
which has been out there for at least 3 months? Here's
a link to the first message I found on CPU -- dated
      January
      10.

      http://messages.yahoo.com/bbs?action=m&board=7078776&tid=spls&mid=1262&sid=70787
      76

OBTW, I didn't look before January 1, so it might have
      been there even earlier.

      At the time of that
post (which was a weekend), CPU was at 14.125. Today
it closed unchanged at 5.9375 -- down almost 60% in
3 months. A real gem, here.

      The best
argument against the street reacting to this rumor is the
lack of action in CPU. IF the street was punishing
SPLS for possibly acquiring CPU, wouldn't they also be
buying CPU to take advantage of this buyout? Well, CPU
for the week was down 25 cents. To arbitrage, you'd
      play both sides.

    • Why don't you call IR, you seem to be the only one on this board with a problem. Everyone else seems to have a reasonable appraisal of what is happening to SPLS.

    • ...Yet, the reality of the situation is that SPLS is dumping like a rhino on laxatives. Something is up. The market knows it.

    • Just b/c people are believing the rumor and
trading on it, doesn't make it true. It makes it a rumor
      that people believe!!

      The market is notorious
for over-reacting to true things and reacting to
      completely false ones.

    • of inequities??? <lol>

      you're
pulling your info out the nether region surrounding your
head. CPU arggggh. Some of the realty is from Caldors
of which SPLS purchased a block of real estate when
they went under. The remainder is store openings in
markets heretofore untapped, like Georgia, New Mexico,
      Arizona, Texas, Illinois.

      As everyone has told you,
CPU (and for that matter CEXP)rumours have been
flying around for awhile, and everyone that has made a
past announcement saying they are sure of a buyout of
either of those two losers, have become much more aware
of their shoe size as it relates to the size of
      their mouths. <vbg>

      Good luck and here's
      to the longs.......GG

    • SPLS broke through it's daily uptrend line. It is
now officially tanking. The market says something is
up. I don't know why you guys remain in denial about
the CPU rumor. It is a logical answer to the question
at hand. It isn't a little rumor, and it isn't
silly. Why don't you call IR and try to get a firm
answer out of them on the subject?
