off topic--I'll be gone a while

due to computer problems --- apparently we had a
power surge during a storm --- the electricity never
went off and the lights never flickered --- my 2
computers were turned off and on power strips
[cheapies],but the phone lines were connected --- guess the
surge went through the phone lines, if that is
possible!! It seems both internal modems were fried --- also
lost a vcr[not on either], but tv ok!! Computers ok
except for dialing out --- I am borrowing a laptop, but
have to give back today --- see everyone in 2-4
weeks!! So, if SPLS falls to $22.67, which is my guess
for the "the mother of all buying opportunities"
during the next month, think of me and I'll be
buying!!!! [But I'll be buying anytime it falls below $26,
just between us regular longs!!!!--- because I really
don't think SPLS will fall that low!! ] --- p.s.thanks
    for the info,GaterzFan. tofu

    • i recommend typing ffh.to in the quote box.
Fairfax financial is a huge insurance holding co. This
stock has oversold. I just bought at 420.00. I hold
five different mutual funds, 4 of which have bought
heavily into this company in the last year. Remember this
is a toronto stock, so its cheaper than you
      think!
ps. Look at the bottoms for an indication of good
      things to come!

      go spls!

    • i like Menifee tom. in belmont....rumors are just
rumors, but crossing over to get info or feelings about
possibilities is cool.....good luck with gtw and spls.....come
on over to cpu board , im sure eddieboy262 will
welcome you with open arms....ed is are unofficial ceo
      elect....

    • I'll lay off the CPU rumor bashing. Good night and a good weekend to all (yes you too Coachjack12).

    • I'm holding SPLS, not CPU...

    • www.stockrumors.com read and weep peg !

    • me that we'd make 30 this week? A miss is a miss.

And by the way........I am so F@#$ing tired of hearing about the CPU thing. Enough already!!! It's getting boring.

    • Gateway stole Staples' bride at the alter with a
      last minute superior bid..... NOT.
      Never fear, the
CPU rumor pump and dumper's will return, they're
probably over on the RN or DELL boards right now.

    • Where's the takeover that the CPUers said would be this week?

We're waiting. And enjoying it while we wait.

      Tee-hee!

    • brands? From their web page it seems Compaq and
      HP.
If SPLS wants to enter the PC business to a much
larger degree .... particularly as a solutions provider
to small and medium sized business ..... I'm
wondering if an acqusition of a PC manufacturer,
      direct-retailer like Micron Electronic [MUEI} doesn't make
      sense.

I know SPLS tried to retail DELL products but that
didn't work. The MUEI relationship would provide SPLS
access to a very high quality product and Micron would
be able to expand into the traditional retail
      arena.

The CPU acquistion just doesn't seem to make sence.
Afterall, where does this marriage provide synergy? I'm
sure CPU doesn't bring much in the way of incremental
premium real estate. But, I expect it brings a lot of
      "retail" baggage.

Let's hope for some more verticle
intergration by Stemberg & Co that will be acretive to
      earnings!

BTW, MUEI is trading at 25x trailing earings. Even if
EGGS paid a 50% premium, say $1.4 billion ..... with
SPLS @ $30 [a steal], that would be 46.7 million
shares. MUEI should generate $36-40 million after taxes
in current FY. This would yield an EPS of $.75 to
$.85 .... before any cost savings.

      Just a
      thought.
