Ameren stock has fallen from $52 to under $20 in just a couple of years. Currently it is about $25 and "holding." As long as the current members of the ICC remain in office, there is no hope for this stock as long as they remain in office. Last month the ICC approved a $5 million rate increase, cutting the AEE request of $262 million. These numbers portray the dilema that faces AEE. While Missouri regulators approved a $223 rate increase May 28, this will not cover the losses that AEE will experience in their Illinois operation. This stock is definitely a "sell" in my opinion. Does anyone disagree?
Awesome!

Your math stinks!
Have you ever heard the phrase "familiarity breeds contempt?" It is possible to enjoy ones job and not like the company you work for.
The stock price tanked when they cut their dividend. They are now in a very strong cash position and their current dividend (about 6%) seems very secure, and I can see the possibilities of future dividend increases, which would lead to an obvious increase in stock price.
I'd say this is a 'buy low' opportunity.
This is my hometown electric/gas company. Wait until there is a pull back, and buy all you can.
well I hope so./ Today, I'm finally "in the green."
Why in the heck didn't Ameren/U.E stay small and not buy all those Co. especially in IL?
Seems as though the C.E.O. wanted to be a big time operator. They just tried to buy everything in sight.
They were doing great when was the old U.E. and I might add, a good Co. too work for.
I think it's probably because of the "go big or go home" mentality that was going on in the 90's with all of the mergers. I agree that they were a better company back when it was just U.E. and I'm not sure progress is a good thing in that regard.
And!!!!!! sportsfans!!!! good old Ameren has increased their infrastructure charge, which shows up on your bill, too $1.81 which is another $.19 per month.
It just keeps going up and going up.
I guess no one notices this? "I DO"
Missouri regulators forgot to increse their amount of increse to cover what they are looseing in Ill. Missouri resedents are happy to pay for Ill. frealoaders.
pays a good dividend and is selling below book value. The company easily covers it's dividend. I own a lot of it at $23.63 that I bought on last weeks drop. It's a decent buy and a company selling for less than it's peers. Can't agree with rating it a sell. Buy before June 7 and get almost $.40 a share divy. Will not lose money, just won't make as much as it could if they were allowed a fair rate of return. They will get the rates up. In the mean time it pays about 6.5%.
I agree...also they have beat on earnings for the last three-Q by wide margin....and we having heat wave right now(July 7th)
