Looks like the weekly options are gone

Well I remember seeing the options for the current week and the next upcoming week when they had them so that is why I was wondering why I was not seeing them. Anyone else see this also?

    • The weeklies come out on Thursdays for the following week...

    • LOL, yes. Last week you saw the weekly for last week and the monthly that close out this week.

Next week you will see a new weekly for next Friday and the monthly for March 17th (yes, that is Saturday, the day monthly actually expire).

    • The Feb monthly turns out to also be the 'weekly' for this week.

What is 'gone' is a lot of the premium in the options for this week, as theta (time decay) takes hold. With the low volume, lackluster price movement, and theta working against you, the premiums have dropped, particularly for the Feb 18 series.

Selling options at 'low' prices this week is a risky move, given that the stock could turn around on a dime and explode upward, thus causing huge losses for those who sold calls.

For many people, who own 1000 VHC shares, even seeing ".50" for the Feb 26 call is a temptress, as NOT selling the covered call is tantamount to leaving $500 on the table if VHC doesn't close above $26 this Friday.

For those who need a new dishwasher or what have you, they'd probably rather risk selling the call than doing nothing at all this week.
