The fact that Samsung has the rights to use new UDC patents, such as single layer encapsulation, and who knows what else over the next few year is the reason I think the fixed payments will continue to get much larger, rather than just incrementally larger, over the next five years. You have to assume that they will get to use blue and roll-to-roll and any other patented technology UDC creates through 2017.
So Sid said that Samsung will have green and green host in new product in q1 or q2.....Probably the S4.
Likely no green from Samsung to speak of in 2012. There must be a little green and green host from LG and AUO and all the misc stuff.
And the plastic substrate means the new 32k substrate/month lines are starting with red, green and green host. Also confirmed with capacity for a 10.1" tablet screen. Will be a nice bump in revenue and earnings compared to expectations that were lowered after the last report.
UDC seemed a bit skeptical regarding whether oled ink jet tv production has been solved by anyone (Panasonic included) yet but that they are prepared to sell solution based oled materials to anyone that does have the roll to roll mass production started. [Based on announcements at CES and so forth Panasonic seems at least to be suggesting they've solved it.]
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I see no mention that the "all-print" method is solution or ink jet. The Panasonic article does say no vacuum, though, I'm not sure if OVJP requires vacuum. Still holding hope that OVPD/JP technology will be a key component of mass production.
