Sony Launching Triluminos Technology In Xpera Smartphones
Sony Corporation is currently trying to bring the highly enhanced Triluminos innovation that is implemented on its 4K UHD television displays to future Xperia high-end phones. This feature would let Sony to come up with products to offer a compelling mobile display that would compete directly with the Super LCD technology of HTC, ClearBack technology of Nokia and Super AMOLED technology of Samsung.
Triluminos happens to be a display backlight technology that implements a nanocrystal quantum dot technology. This makes ground for a wider range of colors, resulting in a display that offer a higher vibrant range and more vivid colors.
The innovation can presently be found on Sony’s 4K Ultra HD televisions. Also, Sony Philippines has revealed that the technology will soon be available on Xperia smartphones.
It is not clear as to when will the technology be available for Xperia phones. However, it is good news for smartphone users, who are caught up in the war that is going on among Super AMOLED, Retina Display and SLCD.
There are speculations that the technology will be available in the Xperia phablet that is supposed to launch in fall this year with a 20 MP camera, Xenon flash and dedicated audio amplifier chip. The phone may be launched in China in July.
UDC owns Nanocrystal Quantum Dot technology so if Sony wants to use it, we will certainly benefit from the ultimate IP licencing. PANL will scream with this Sony Launch. (If they are able to commercialize it?). Lets hope so!
