Went to wound healing lecture presented by Plastic Surgeon evaluation of all products
The surgeon presented phenomenol wound healing results with Epifix. He predominantly uses Epifix with great results. Much better than dermagraft due to high concentration of growth factors that leach into the surrounding tissue stimulating wound healing and the factors remain high for extended period. Depending on cell survival as in dermagraft and others and hoping those cells will survive and pump out the same level of growth factors is unrealistic. He was using Epifix to close dehisced surgical wounds, Mohs wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, burns, venous stasis ulcers, pressure ulcers etc. There is a huge population of doctors that still don't know about these products. This alone is a big growth opportunity. One last thing is the difficulty of working with a frozen-thaw product and timing was onerous compared to off the shelf Epifix and cost savings were big with Epifix. The Surgeon was particulary interested in cost savings as he was using through a wound center and impact on the net.
